Honestly Autism Day in Baltimore
Seth’s Mom attended the annual Honestly Autism Day event hosted by the Autism Society of Baltimore. So many disability resources for children and adults that expanded well beyond ASD to cover the entire developmental disabilities spectrum. There were almost too many fantastic things to cover in one article. They did a wonderful job securing vendors that showed a wide range of services for children and adults on the spectrum. From education options to hippo therapy to financial planning for the whole family it was quite impressive. The most impactful moment occurred during the keynote address by Chris Ulmer, founder of Special Books by Special Kids. What began as a pursuit to publish mini-novels by his students, Chris took his love of special education and began a video blog that showed the beautifully human side of growing up with special needs. His organization now has over a million followers in 110 countries. His talk was absolutely inspiring. We’ll continue to feature other awesome findings from the conference (like WTH is hippo therapy) in future articles. Next year, make sure you come out and join us!
