Baltimore Lab School reinvigorating mid-town with art infused college prep special education

Baltimore is just brimming with resources and opportunities for our families. Let’s take a look at Baltimore Lab School. One of the amazing school options in Charm City.

Located in the old Goucher Hall building on Saint Paul St. in Charles Village, walking into the private day-school is truly awe-inspiring. Seth’s Mom visited Baltimore Lab School to see what the mini-castle had behind its stately walls. Most students were rehearsing for an upcoming performance, but we had the opportunity to peek into some of the classrooms and meet some of the staff. The atmosphere was laid back and halls were lined with beautiful mosaics created by the kids. We sat down to discuss the curriculum with the Director of Admissions (wonderful woman by the way). The school offers a dynamic college-prep education for children diagnosed with learning disabilities. Did you hear that COLLEGE PREP FOR CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES! The school uses experiential learning (learning through hands-on activities and projects) and art “as a gateway to learning”  allowing children to gain knowledge and new concepts on their own terms and based on their vision. The academic club methodology was particularly unique by surrounding the kids by the topic through role play, writing projects, research projects, and art. The program is best suited for children with milder forms of ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, emotion/anxiety disorders, and ASD. You don’t have to live in Baltimore City to take advantage since many of their kids commute from other counties across Maryland and some in Pennsylvania.Checkout their site to find out more about Baltimore Lab School visit their website.
